Train Journey of Life

Whispers of Morning Dew..!

My eighth blog here. .

Thank you, my friends and well-wishers, for following the dancing of my mind through my blogs..

My companions , many a times, were books. Well, I must say , that books have not ceased to be my friends, even now! I have read somewhere that Life so often resembles a train journey. I wish to let you know how. Please read on.

We get on the train at a boarding station.. we get down.. others come inside.. we tend to watch them curiously.. again at a certain stop , we get off.. we get on again.. our fellow passengers get down..new people come in.. The cycle repeats itself.. At times, our journeys are full of joy.. other times, it results in deep sorrow.. yet other times, we come across accidents. And some times, some of us will linger on, to offer a helping hand to the ones in need – like the Good Samaritan.

When we are first born into this world, we start our train journey.. we look into the faces of those people whom we think will be with us through our entire journey – our parents. We believe they will be with us – no matter what. Sadly, this is not the truth. Our parents care for us, love us and tend to us., yet we must understand that they too have journeys they must complete. We will have to learn to live without them.. yet they always fill our minds with their care, affection , guidance and ever-presence.

There are others whom we meet on the way, some who will eventually come inside our compartment – these are our brothers, sisters, friends, colleagues, acquaintances etc. We learn to love and cherish them, care for them as we can..or just say a Hello as we greet them with a smile.

Some people consider their journey like a hip-hop tour..they will board the train at an unexpected turn and they will jaunt merrily along. Some are like cry-babies. They carry a lot of baggages , have their own sets of sorrows, losses, complaints. We observe both the different characters, yet we learn nothing from both.

Some get on to the train and leave a lasting impression in our lives, even if it’s for a short while. The memories stay in our minds, stacked in a separate corner – never to leave! Others get on and before we know it, they vanish – as easily as they came in. They would hardly leave a trace that they ever sat with us. At times, we wonder why some people, whom we believed would be with us, choose to leave us and travel in another compartment. They had made their choice and we stand to watch, helplessly. Yet, there’s nothing that says we cannot seek them again. But on our search, we find that they are indeed in the neighbouring compartment – to our dismay, we find we cannot sit beside them! Why? That seat would already have been taken by someone else! We go back to our old place and wait patiently. We learn to look for the best in our travel companions. And we continue our journey..

Sometimes, we may stumble, stutter and falter.. hopefully, there would be Good Samaritans around, to give us a much needed hand. In turn, we must keep our eyes open - our good words, a cheerful smile, an encouraging pat, a reassuring hand shake , would soar the spirits high in a tear – strained heart !

The biggest mystery of our train journey is that we do not know when our last stop would arrive. Neither do we know the last stops of our fellow passengers – no , not even the ones who are seated next to us! Our last stops are destined, programmed and charted out right from the time we boarded the train , by the Great Station Master..who has the list with Him. Some do not even acknowledge Him, hence He strikes off those names. But blessed are they, whose names are indeed written !!

We are all in this journey together. As we continue our journey, each of us must strive our best to make the ride as pleasant, joyful and helpful , as possible. Look around and you will see many of your passengers who have forlorn faces.. do your best to bring a smile from them.

When we make our final stop, it is true that we take leave of our families, friends and well-wishers .. Sad, for a moment..!! But , I personally feel happy , for I know I shall see them all again on that Beautiful last stop our Station Master makes. I would have the satisfaction , knowing that I have contributed to their arrival at the Last Stop, just as they have contributed to mine.

And together, we all shall be – with our Loving Station Master !!

Wishing you all a very Happy, Safe Journey!

The Interview with God

Whispers of Morning Dew.

My seventh post here:

Today, I thought I would post a poem that I recently read. The author of this poem is unknown, but I assure you, that you would love this! Please take the time to read till the end.

The Interview with God.

I dreamed I had an interview with God.

“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.

“If you have the time” I said.

God smiled. “My time is eternity.”

“What questions do you have in mind for me?”

“What surprises you most about humankind?”

God answered...

“That they get bored with childhood,

they rush to grow up, and then

long to be children again.”

“That they lose their health to make money...

and then lose their money to restore their health.”

“That by thinking anxiously about the future,

they forget the present,

such that they live in neither

the present nor the future.”

"That they live as if they will never die,

and die as though they had never lived.”

God’s hand took mine

and we were silent for a while.

And then I asked...

“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons

you want your children to learn?”

“To learn they cannot make anyone

love them. All they can do

is let themselves be loved.”

“To learn that it is not good

to compare themselves to others.”

“To learn to forgive

by practicing forgiveness.”

“To learn that it only takes a few seconds

to open profound wounds in those they love,

and it can take many years to heal them.”

“To learn that a rich person

is not one who has the most,

but is one who needs the least.”

“To learn that there are people

who love them dearly,

but simply have not yet learned

how to express or show their feelings.”

“To learn that two people can

look at the same thing

and see it differently.”

“To learn that it is not enough that they

forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.”

"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.

"Is there anything else

you would like your children to know?"

God smiled and said,

“Just know that I am here... always.”

Right Time and Right direction

Whispers of Morning Dew...!

My sixth topic here.. Right Time and Right direction

"When joy takes leave, friends betray, fortune frowns and springs depart .,when you are left, to your dismay, alone to face with shattered heart , the tempest on the shore - and you feel lost as never before. When things no more seem the same, try once more and play the game. Wipe the tear and stop the cry, sky is the limit if you try”.

Life is so often similar – a challenge that tests our strength of body and mind, a mystery that baffles our understanding, a riddle that gets more complicated the more we try to figure it out. But in the midst of it all, we as human beings , treasure our happiness, our little joys, however big or small they seem, in the trusted safe keeper within ourselves – the heart! And its the heart which can motivate us however low we feel..!

So today, lets talk about how we can motivate our hearts....?  Please do go on reading.

A little PUSH in the right direction and at the right time can make a lot of difference to a person's life..I have noticed this simple yet amazing fact in many lives.. Isn't it satisfying to see a person's life in order, due to the timely hand you provided?? I , for one, definitely feel so..

Imagine you are driving your dream car .. [ hmmm, mine would be the latest Audi / BMW...!! :) Think about your favourite...] on a relatively lone highway.. You suddenly come across a Bend in the road... you slam the breaks thinking its the End... now , would you blame the manufacturers of the car OR would you dare to gear your high-level machine onto the rather bumpy, narrow turn ahead?

Similarly, we cannot discover new oceans, new horizons if we do not hav the courage to lose sight of the shore! At times, we may have to give up things which are dear to us, things which give us a sense of fulfillment and exhilarated energy...to acquire something far more precious and meaningful.

Some people dream of success.. they go on dreaming alone.. those dreams never come true. Why?? Because they do not wake up - to work hard to get to their dreams! Do not be like them... dream more when you are awake, not while you are asleep!!

Do make peace with your past - troubles you have had, painful past experiences.. Because your past should never spoil your present and the future. Forgive and forget things/people of the past... its best that way always.. and also worthwhile.

Remember, today was the tomorrow, that you were worried of, yesterday....... and Today wasn't so bad, was it?? :)   Our Hearts can some times fool us - with its torrent of almost multi-directional emotions.. Do not listen to it then... Think with your Big Computer -Mr.Brain..., feed in the instructions that are necessary, download and save the softwares which can take control of such times... Else, years from now, you might feel disheartened as you unwind your Life's Reel !!

Why do I say this? Well, a Candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.. It will only turn the room brighter.. !! A candle takes away the gloom and bring in rays of hope and smile to those around!  If , each of us as candles, could light another candle in a person's life, wouldn't this world be a brighter, happier place?? As I said, a little push in the right direction can do wonders. May God use each of us as candles to brighten another person's world and melt their worries away....!

God bless you, my friend.

PUSH!!!

Hello there.. !!!
Iam glad to be here after a long while..
Without wasting much time, let me share with you my topic for today:
Pray Until Something Happens [PUSH].....

Am reminded of some thing very interesting that I read recently.. Which I would like to share with all of you. Perhaps some of you might hav read this.... but Please do not let that stop you from reading my thoughts, which I hav added here..
Believe me, you would like what I hav written..

Why dont you take three pots of water?
OK, now , place 3 carrots in one pot... 3 eggs in another one... and some coffee beans ground into coffee powder, into the third pot...

Place all 3 pots for boiling................................

Now, after 10 min, what do you see??

Lets go hand in hand and take a look at each of these pots...

So here's the first pot.......... Hmmmm, what did you put here? Carrots...!! Nice , orange colored carrots... but when you boiled them, what happened?? They hav lost their freshness.. their crispiness.. their bright orange color... The hot water caused the carrots to become SOFT.....!! Now they can be easily breakable..palatable for even a two year old!!
Now lets see what happened to the other pot... Oh there are eggs... ! Three of them!! Hmmm, YUMM!!! But wait a minute.... the eggs went in soft inside......yet the boiling hot water has made it so firm...So hard... !

Lets leave the eggs for the time being and come with me to take a look at the third pot.....
OOOHHHHH, what a smell!! what an aroma!! What gorgeous taste!! Just a sip of the wonderful brewing coffee ..... and all your senses are awakened!!
Unlike our two other friends back in the 2 pots, the hot boiling water did not do anything to the coffee powder... But its the Coffee powder which changed the water!!! Isn't that great??

Now, in the pretext of the above, lets take a peek at our lives.

Life is not always easy...
Life is sometimes very tough..
At times, life throws stones at us which we never imagined... We think to ourselves "I do not deserve this".
People dont treat us the way we hope .. Very few follows the commandment "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"......
We work so hard, yet without any result.....
We do not have good friends to uplift us...
What do we do during such trials and tribulations??
Is it easier to cover the whole earth with red carpet OR wiser to wear suitable shoes to walk on hard ground?
Let's think about those three pots.

Some of us are like carrots... We enter our life with fervor, enthusiasm, cheerfulness, chirpiness, briskness...oh what an energy!! The right Sanguine spirit in us!! But by the time we realise that the water around us is getting hotter and hotter, we lose our natural qualities one by one.....we lose our fighting spirit.. we become tired... we compare ourselves with others.. we are unable to run behind our dreams, desires and wishes... we become Soft, Sad, Secluded, Sensitive...easily hurt by even a child!!! Just like our friends - the Carrots!

Some are like the eggs.......We enter our lives , thinking that everything around us is goody-goody...With our soft, sensitive hearts, we step into the world.. one tiny meek step at a time... cautiously darting our eyes around, right to left....ready to bring on those tears every time we feel that our soft hearts are being trampled upon... We go on like that for a while... when we realise to ourselves that the world is no longer a goody-goody place as we hoped it to be...Its rather bad, hurting, humiliating and sometimes even suffocates us...So what do we turn into?? We turn in like those eggs... The hot water changes us..our hearts become so hard.. feelings turn bitter...no more warmth in us.. no more love.. no more compassion...! Just like our friends-the eggs!!

BUT, some are like the Coffee Beans...Coffee Beans need to be crushed into fine powder, to bring out the exotic aroma of wonderful coffee.. Similarly, early in life, as some of us take our maiden step into the World, we are crushed... churned seven times in the hot furnace.. The process is extremely painful.. hurts beyond measure...our hearts bled to the last tiny drop.... YET, by the Grace and Strength of our Creator, we emerge from it.. we try to learn new things.. we grow in our experiences..we acquire new skills... we meet new people, we earn new friends.. we try to be cheerful all the time...We try to make the world around us a better place.. Problems, difficulties, trials and tribulations makes us tougher, stronger and better!

Just like our friends - the Coffee Beans!!
The process of being ground to fine powder made the beans to give out the fresh aroma that every one in this world craves for......The boiling water did nothing to the coffee powder... It is the coffee powder which changed the water... the HOTTER the water, the BETTER the taste of the coffee!!

Problems in life do arise.. Water gets tougher and rougher...We must not give up.. We must keep trying.. We must PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens!!

So my friend, ask yourselves... Think of the Carrots, The Eggs, The Coffee Beans......
Which one are you? Which one hav you become? Which one hav you been so far??
Which do you aim to be??

Pleasing God

My fourth post here :

Was at home for a few days for Onam vacations and again am back here.. About to post something  which is a message for all ....

Pleasing God is my topic for today...... Hope that you would be blessed by reading this blog of mine.. Me being a Christian believer, wanted to share my thoughts with you on this rather important topic.

I would like to tell you that if you please God, it doesn’t matter who you do NOT please. But if you do not please God, it doesn’t matter whom you please!!! Do you agree with me here? yes, am sure you do... please, read on........

Pleasing God is often a tough task, yet a Christian is pronounced - Bright Light, Strong Witness, Calm refuge and Stabilizing Force – among all the people. Why is it so? First, In an angry dark world, the Christian is a Bright Light. If you lead a joyful life, you will definitely attract attention. Like bees to a flower bud...As Jesus taught in His Sermon on the Mount “you are the light of the world.. let your light shine before men”{Mathew 5:14,16} The people of this world needs the joy that shines from within you. The joy of the Lord IS OUR STRENGTH!

Second, In a sinful, lawless society, the clean Christian is a strong witness to God’s Power to overcome sin. Bible urges us to stay clean. In this society which has lost its way in endless ways, a clean Christian is a beacon of hope, proclaiming that freedom and fullness is possible only through Jesus Christ.

Third, In a turbulent environment of deception, the discerning Christian is a Calm refuge. Think straight and be discerning. How do we discern?? Listen.... Listen closely.. Listen ever more closely.......For Truth! If what you are hearing conflicts with the truths and practices of the Bible, learn to Reject it – instantly!!

Fourth and final, in this insecure and totally confused age, the confident Christian is a stabilizing force. Stand firm... Let the Lord use you to bring stability in the church and in an unsteady world. Always be concerned of a brother’s / sister’s spiritual growth. Never merely be a church-goer, but a Church – doer.
Last but not the least, Practising a close fellowship with God brings in joy, purity, assurance, discernment and confidence.

Well, am about to stop here..... I will continue on similar topics later... Hope you hav had 'food for thought" - for today...
God bless you .

Travelling down Memory Lane..

Whispers of Morning Dew..

My third post.......

Each of the passing moments in our life immediately ceases to be the present and enters the much-guarded chamber of our body- The Heart....
Collected , weaved and connected in a web pattern, those moments are safely arranged in the folder named – Memories......
These memories, whether good or bad, happy or sad, then reign our life. Quite often, the folder plunges open, and the web untwines, then enters our present, sometimes even uninvited............

Each of us have childhood memories, childhood home and friends, school day memories..and finally, before we enter our full-fledged responsibilities, Our dear College Life.. These memories invade our thoughts more often than any other.. Like yours, my memory plays the same game with me.

Those days at school and college........ the wonderful castles where I was delicately brought up, the places where I learned the meaning of friendship, trust and love, the place which taught me to respect and treasure my teachers, where I once thought that exams, silly fights, art days, sports days, annual days where all what life was all about...... ...As these sweet-but-painfully sweet memories fly past, I regret that I once had taken this all for granted and wish that I could turn the merciless wheels of Time.. just to relish the worth of those moments once more in my life..! One by one, the faces of all those who have walked in and out of my school and college life, some who have made a lasting impression, some who left a lasting vacuum within, some who meant everything then, some who did not mean anything at all..........every single face swim before my eyes all too often.....and then I wish and pray that God gives me a chance to meet each and every one of them, to thank them for all the part they played into making me who Iam, that the world sees today!

Yet , the reality slams down on me real hard that I may not meet some of them , perhaps the most important ones who moulded me............And I shudder when i ask - Why has life changed so much..?? Sometimes, I say to myself – Unfair life! But later, I realise that the God who sets the sun down on each of my days, is wise enough to know who I need and at what time, more than I can ever fathom. And as God makes the sun rise on my days now, I thank God for His Infinite Wisdom, for He knows my tomorrows better than I knew my yesterdays.....He has given me new experiences, new friends, new routines, and of course , the freedom for new experiments , placing my absolute faith and trust in Him, like little Issac did to his father, Abraham............

Let us not pass each moment without relishing them... let us not let any moment fly by without enjoying them.........let us not all commit the same mistake we once did “taking for granted”....

Let us vow to ourselves that we shall , take time to look at the flowers around and drown in their colors, smell the rain-kissed earth, feel the innocence in a child’s smile, know the bliss of love in the eyes of a newly married couple, take to heart the satisfaction in the old couple’s hand-in-hand walk...................yes, let us vow to ourselves to enjoy the beauty of this beautiful planet, each moment..........one step at a time.....

Mr. D.John - my Grand Father

Whispers of Morning Dew...

My second post here :

Could not write much the past 3-4 days due to my Sharon's [daughter] inter-school competitions...Am glad to be back here ...

My first post was about my Beloved Teacher.. who taught me more than just Anatomy!

This post is about my dearest grand dad - Late Mr. D. John {5th Nov 1925 - 27th Dec 2006}

My grand father was the best husband, best father and best grand father I hav ever come across. He taught me a lot through his silent ways.. through his love and care.. through his songs... his outlook on human life and its values.. even through the way he perceived things which was not meaningful to him perhaps at that moment in time...

He was always the first to buy me good food, great clothes, anything that I required.. always the best host for my friends..

He was a noted speaker, having delivered innumerable speeches in churches, community halls etc. He was the founder of the YMCA in Kulanada [ my native place] .. the first to build a church-coordinated school there.. gave jobs to many educated women in and around the village.. till today, there are many men and women who became bread - winners solely due to my grand dad's helping hand.

One of the greatest character I hav taken note of and also adapting in my life at present is his way of "giving cheerfully" to others.. It doesnt matter whether he has money saved for future purposes, he would simply give cheerfully to those who deserves.. in fact, not only money.. but food too. Any one who hungered always has receieved their belly full , if they came to him..

When I was small, he used to teach me Math... since he was a Math teacher [ retired as DEO..!! ] .  I remember being scared of him only then.. But as I climbed heights - slowly but surely - he was proud of me and would often say so.. Wished to see me finish my MDS and acquiring a respectable job.. But God had decided his days and called him back to Heaven - at the appointed time.

Do I complain to God that my grand father was not alive for a few more months?? yes, I do , some times- human that I am !
Do I miss my grand father?? Oh very very ........terribly.
Do I think of him often in a day?? Oh my! not a single day passes by without remembering his jokes..his smile.. his speech.. his omlettes.. his way of making funny faces at us... his wonderful tongue in relishing any good food..

He always used to say " No one should think of us with thankfulness in their hearts that we hav left this earth, rather , we should leave them with memories they can always smile upon, with thoughts of us swelling their hearts with pride. Only then would our lives be complete, our work on earth finished".

Yes, thats what I wish too - now.

May God help us to become such people.. such wonderful beings who would always bring smiles on faces with our very thoughts... not only to our loved ones but also to all those who may know us as we trod this Earth and run our good race!

Whispers of Morning Dew

Starting this (for the first time) with a tribute to My Beloved professor Late Dr.K.Ponnuchamy MBBS.
The best teacher in the world...
So privileged to have been his student.
To me, he was not merely a teacher, but  a parent, a friend, mentor, guide.........
Never knew Anatomy could be taught in such a beautiful way... Even Grays would hav felt ashamed that he could not come upto my Sir!!
I try my best to teach my students with the perfection in which my Ponnuchamy Sir taught Anatomy... But I know, I cant do it as well as him..No one can, in fact!  He was a teacher par excellence.... Though I hav studied in 13 different schools by the time I finished my 12th grade, and then again another 8 years of BDS and MDS study (in 2 different colleges), I have never met, nor known anyone as precise, perfect and unique as my Ponnuchamy Sir.
Quoting his words ( there were many, but here are a few..) :
(1) My diagrams will speak for itself!
(2) Study of anatomy starts with respect for the dead!
(3) Come rain or shine, our classes will go on..!

I still treasure his notes and even now remember his words the first time he wrote a comment on my Gross Aantomy lecture note "You hav taken enormous effort to rewrite these notes, Good. It would hav been still better had there been more clearer and well labelled diagrams".

This poem is dedicated to him and I hope these words speak as to who he was , to me .....as well as to all those who hav known Sir.

To Sir.. with Love.. !

A disciplined teacher, loving parent

Marvellous mentor, closest confidante

Indeed a friend in need..

A great anatomist, awed individual

Yes, the roles you played were diverse..

And each left a deep print in my heart..

From within the dark frame of your glasses,

You searched.. into my soul...

You inspired..even the dead to teach the living

Your advices are still my stepping stones

Your humor still brings a smile..

Your care still brings a tear..

This comes with salutations to your memory..

With a bouquet of flowers and deep gratitude

May I say from the inner depth...

Its an honor to be known as Your Student!
